HerpLog collects the following information to provide field-logging services:
Location Data: Precise GPS coordinates, altitude, and accuracy are collected to document wildlife sightings.
Media: Photos uploaded or taken via the camera are used for species identification and record-keeping.
User Input: Age, sex, and behavioral tags of observed wildlife.
HerpLog uses the iNaturalist Open API for automated species identification.
When you use the "Identify" feature, your photo is transmitted to iNaturalist's servers for analysis.
This data is handled according to iNaturalist’s privacy standards. No personally identifiable information (PII) is sent to iNaturalist by HerpLog, only the image intended for identification.
Local Storage: By default, your precise location data and field notes are stored locally on your device.
Sensitive Locations: We recognize the sensitivity of herpetological data. HerpLog does not publicly broadcast your precise coordinates to other users without your explicit action (e.g., exporting a report).
You have the right to delete your data at any time by removing records within the app or deleting the application.
